First-Round Remarks from Brian Harman (-4) -- 66

Q. Following up on that, yes, you did have a great number today, but 6 and 9, both of those within inches. You could be -- do you look at that as, hey, I'm playing my best and that's great or is it the opposite, man, those are missed opportunities?

BRIAN HARMAN: No, you know, I made a couple really nice up-and-downs for par as well. So I feel like that stuff kind of evens itself out. I just try to keep executing and my game feels really, really good right now. I haven't had the results that I feel like that I probably should have the last few week, but I'm playing some pretty good golf and it was nice to get off to a good start.

Q. Can you talk about the par-3s? The folks, not just Gil, but others have talked specifically about the par-3s here and how they could be some of the better ones in the world and of course every club says that, what's your take now after playing a few?

BRIAN HARMAN: Right, yeah, you know, I said it in the interview earlier, that the fear when you redo an iconic place like this is that they mess it up and I feel pretty confident saying that they didn't mess it up. Now the course needs time to mature, the grass really isn't quite where it needs to be yet, it just, it takes a long time for those roots to get their structure and for everything to settle down. I'm going to hold off judgment for another couple years probably on how I think about it, but I don't think they messed it up. I think they did a pretty good job.

Q. In terms of preparation, some guys need a ton of time, know a golf course really intimately, how do you fit on that spectrum, is it kind of nice to be everybody on a fresh start for you or would you prefer a lot more detailed work?

BRIAN HARMAN: I loved the old course so much, I had so many laps around this place, it's one that I always had circled. I felt like I had a little bit of knowledge especially on the younger guys trying to play Colonial for the first couple times. But, yeah, we're all on the same footing now, but I feel like the essence of the course is still the same. You got to hit some really demanding tee shots and if you can pull those off, you get some shorter clubs into the holes. So I don't feel like that the main theme of this place has changed a whole lot.

Q. I understand there's a tournament that's not on the leaderboard among you Georgia boys.

BRIAN HARMAN: No, not for me this week. I've got my family out, so, yeah, I'll let them play their whatever they got going.

Q. Are they playing a four, count three?

BRIAN HARMAN: Yeah, I think they got something going on. I think that and payment on a house for a week against each other.

Q. So you're not in?

BRIAN HARMAN: I wasn't in the draft, no, I went undrafted.

Q. Oh, it's a draft?

BRIAN HARMAN: Yeah, they drafted. They had captains and then they picked. If one of 'em plays good you can ask them.

Q. Who doesn't pick the reining Open champion?

BRIAN HARMAN: Well, I'm not staying with 'em, so...
